Ranch Adventures

Mini Ranchers ages 4 to 6
(Wednesdays)

This 6 week series teaches children all about ranch life and nature!

We will spend the first class getting to know our ponies, learning how to groom, lead and do some fun obstacles.  Once children are comfortable, the next classes will starts with a visit to the horse pasture where they will learn how to catch and halter their own mini-horse.  Once children have partnered up and are confident with their ponies, we’ll continue on to experience different ranch adventures all with a few ponies in tow.

These Mini Ranchers will learn how to take care of horses, feed cows, open and close gates, go over and through all kinds of obstacles all while exploring the ranch and helping to do a few ranch chores.   During our walks through various alley-ways and pastures, we’ll look for baby calves and spring flowers, splash through the creek, climb hills, collect birds’ nests and fun rocks, spy on ‘Sally’ the hawk and even visit some old cow bones.

Little ranchers will also work on a ranch craft or two using items we’ve found and collected either inside the barn or in the heated bunkhouse!

Please dress your child for the weather as they will be outside most of the time!

HorsePlay is based out of Big Rock Farms, a 120 year old family run ranch just SW of Okotoks.
