Purchase Agreement & Code of Conduct
Purchase Agreement
- Refund Policy: Classes are sold as a set of lessons/adventures. Once the set has commenced, no refunds are available. All deposits are none refundable.
- If a 14 day notice prior to the start of lessons is given and the classes are paid in full at the time of deposit then a refund is available, minus a $25 administration fee.
- If a 7 day notice is given to cancel lessons then a refund will be provided, minus deposit.
- There will be no refunds given for participants who are removed from the program due to violations of the Code of Conduct (please read below).
- Our preferred method of payment is an e-transfer or cash (please make sure that you add a note to your transfer with the child’s name and the class/camp that you are paying for so that we match the correct registration to your payment), if you would like to pay by cheque, your spot in the class or camp will not be held until we receive your payment. There is a drop off for cheques in Okotoks, please contact us by email for the details.
- All participants must sign a waiver that covers all equestrian and ranch activities, waiving liability for any damage caused to person or property, and fully understand that regardless of our best attempts at keeping everyone safe…. you are on a working ranch and our free range working animals, livestock, wildlife, and the weather can be unpredictable.
- Should classes need to be cancelled for any reason, notification will be posted on the HorsePlay Facebook page and via email.
- Animal endangerment or any type of abusive behaviour or class disruptions towards any animal or persons representing HorsePlay or the ranch will not be tolerated and may forfeit your entire registration and fees.
- For our parented classes, during the first class you will be taught how to walk you designated pony (the first class, we are teaching you and your child!). Please ensure the parent who will be walking with your child for the duration of the session is attending the first class. There can not be any substitutions. If that parent is unable to make it to a class, please send us a message so that we can arrange to have a wrangler walk your pony.
- All Gift Certificates and bunkhouse merchandise are Final Sales.

Make-Up Lessons Policy: Refund Policy:
- We do not control the weather. If it is not safe to conduct classes because of weather and we need to cancel we will try to work in an alternative option but there is no guarantee. Students must dress appropriately and we won’t cancel a class because one student didn’t want to wear a jacket and is uncomfortable.
- If classes are cancelled because of a HorsePlay/ranch emergency, we will offer a make-up class.
- If you miss a lesson for a personal reason we will try to fit you into another class within the current frame of time your lessons are in, but we cannot guarantee that a spot will be available.
Code of Conduct
Here at the ranch we are very accepting of all children and adults, however it is necessary to state that everyone is expected to contribute to this atmosphere for it to remain a fun and safe place. All participants should be friendly, kind, patient and respectful at all times to other participants, wranglers, staff, other volunteers, all livestock and pets as well as the Carr family that live here. You are on private property and at someone’s home, so anyone who becomes disruptive or who intentionally diminishes the experience of another guest will be asked to leave. Expulsion can be for reasons of violence, theft, for intentionally damaging property, refusing to obey, abusive language or anything deemed inappropriate or unsafe by staff.

Staff follow a 3 strike system for redirecting behaviour.
- Strike 1: The participant will be reminded of the behaviour guidelines and be redirected to the more appropriate behaviour.
If the behaviour persists, the participant will discuss the situation with a team lead or Instructor. - Strike 2: If the problem persists, the participant will be sent to speak to Kari Carr, ranch manager and HorsePlay owner/operator about the necessary changes to their behaviour. Discussions could result in the participant losing privileges or being removed from certain activities in order to maintain a healthy camp environment for their fellow participants.
- Strike 3: If the problem persists, the participant will be asked to leave the property.
❗There will be no refunds given for individuals who are removed from the program due to violations of the Code of Conduct.
