Performance Riding – Level 3

(Arena Work, Barrels and Pole Bending)

This is a gritty class, buckling down on equitation details to create correct, calm riders and horses.  The goal here is to be apply proper riding skills while navigating a barrel or pole bending pattern correctly.  Even how to properly enter and exit the arena calmly is extremely important.

Are you one of the following?

  • A strong intermediate rider that wants to continue learning, and improve personal riding skills.
  • You want to bring your own horse to practise barrel racing, pole bending and other gymkhana events.
  • You are interested in attending spring Jr. rodeos in High River, or local Barrel & Pole Bending races this spring and summer, and you want to get in coached practises.

If you are not confident to lope a figure 8, this isn’t the class for you (unless you are one of our fearless PeeWees).

Students need to catch, tack up their horse, and meet in the arena in 15 minutes, then we do an intense 45 min lesson (you are welcome to come early if you need more time).  Coaches are available to help at all times.

This spring the ranch has a few rodeo events that we are attending, so the class dates are not consecutive.

Tuesday eve (9 weeks): April 21, 28, May 5, 12, 19, 26, June 2, 9, 16 Note: In preparation for Wednesday evening spring/summer barrel racing in High River, this class may have drop-in racers.
